  1. Proactive BoM building process

Currently the only way BoMs are built is by consuming parts (retroactive approach given a breakdown happened), and manually adding parts from a critical spare analysis, or some similar project, and I think it would be worthwhile to have a proactive process.

I'm picturing something like a button in the parts section where the tech could enter whatever part information he has available and a field to upload a nameplate picture. Then this submission goes to the SCS to review validate and either order for spare, or find/create a part ID and add to the BoM for future ordering purposes.…

It is better suited for the new supply chain portal rather than EFP.

Implementing this feature will require additional infrastructure beyond data entry, while we see strong value in this concept, it will not be part of the "Day One" supply chain release. However, we have noted it as a placeholder for future development.

  2. BOM Updating Manually

Currently in the system is it configured where a technician consumes a part, it is added automatically into the BOM of the equipment asset. I believe this function should be taken off. This often muddies up the BOMs where any small thing that can be consumed on an asset is added, where eventually a BOM can have 100, 200 etc line items. Moreover, when an item is updated and/or retrofitted, it will add that item but also have kept the previous item as well. If another person or technician goes into a BOM and looks for a part (Example motor)…

The current configuration was originally designed to ensure asset records don't remain empty, given that manual maintenance across every asset isn't scalable with our current resources, while also preserving cross-site visibility of parts history. Because this touches core operational workflows and historical site practices, any decision to alter this setup or to establish a formal auditing process requires review and alignment with leadership. We will continue to evaluate.
